About Senior Connection Project

I'm Zachary Port, a class of 2025 student at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

 

My bond with my grandparents inspired me to volunteer at a local senior living facility. I know not everyone has grandkids nearby, so I think it's important to spend time with those who don't. In my time volunteering, I've spoken to a wide range of seniors facing a diverse set of issues.

Keeping note of the most common of these issues, I began doing research and outlined a specific problem. In the coming decades, there will not be nearly enough young adults to take care of seniors. This will only exacerbate current issues such as isolation, technological access, and transportation, along with other unforeseen consequences.

Senior Connection Project looks to spread awareness of the scale and scope of this crisis and aims to pursue small local solutions in order to mitigate the issue.
